INTERNATIONAL JURY AWARDS   The Award of the Marshal of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship  American Dreamer  D: Thomas Haley FR 2012   This film provides an anthropological look inside the essence of patriotism and its various mutations. The author communicates his message tactfully, allowing his images and soundscapes and the personality of his main character to tell us everything. The trust he gains with his protagonist deserves special mention.   Today at 17:00 and 19:30 Kino Zamek will be holding the last two European Competition blocks. Following the last, 10th block, the audience will select the title to receive the Polish Audience Award of the Polish Television (TVP).

  This year's Faces of Westpomeranian Cinema will present the film and television work of the late Włodzimierz Kaczmarek – TVP Szczecin and Radio Szczecin collaborator of many years. At 12:00 in the S1 Studio of Radio Szczecin we will be screening six films whose topics are quite varied - ranging from social issues to nature. The films have been produced mostly with Jan Kuczera, long-term cameraman and friend of Włodzimierz Kaczmarek, and guest of this year's block.

  Marek Kazana is one of the most prominent jazz musicians in Szczecin and beyond. Winner of the Jazz nad Odrą Grand Prix (1979) and the Krzysztof Komeda Scholarship (1983). Has participated in the recording of almost 20 albums, but it wasn't until 2013 that he has released his first album of original work. "Narcyz o sobie, czyli historia Marka Kazany" is a film portrait of this extraordinary artist.

  Industry Zone, the new addition to the dokumentART program, is dedicated to the wide filmmaking scene. This year it features the Academy of Documentary Arts, which creates, develops, and runs international educational and promotional projects within the scope of documentary arts and media. Special guests include: Adam Papliński - the Academy's coordinator, and Dorota Roszkowska - producer, lecturer, and documentary film expert. 18.10.2013, Friday, 15:00 Kino Zamek admission free  

  Jacek Bromski - film director and president of the Polish Filmmakers Association has presented his latest film, "Ticket to the Moon." The evening was honoured with a live concert by Szczecin's Big Fat Mama, who were featured in the film. Among the guests was also Filip Pławniak, who played the leading role. This year's "Time for Rivals" block will present the world's oldest documentary film festival - DOK Leipzig. We will be presenting two films that have been awarded at the festival's previous editions – "Kern" and "The Making of Longbird." We will also be holding a meeting with Lina Dinkla – the festival's program assistant and head of the European network of the Doc Alliance film festival.

The Opening Ceremony at TVP Studio in Szczecin - the 22nd dokumentART has officially begun. The Ceremony's guests included documentary filmmaker Maciej Drygas, as well as Caroline Walke and Bartosz Wójcik – the directors of dokumentART. The Ceremony also featured Isabelli Rossellini's latest film "Mammas." The Opening Ceremony has been broadcast by TVP Szczecin, which can be seen at tvpstream.tvp.pl.  The main sponsor of the Openin Ceremony is Szczecińska Energetyka Cieplna.

Each year, as part of the Top League block, we present the work of one renown director. This year, during three events at Multikino Galaxy, dokumentART will be presenting the selected works of the acclaimed and unique Martin Scorsese, awarded an Oscar for "The Departed" in 2006 and a Palme d'Or for "Taxi Driver" (with the great Robert De Niro in the leading role) and "After Hours," award-winner of the BAFTA award twice as well as multiple Golden Globe award-winner.  Among today's presentation there will be two films: the documentary "Italianamerican" and a rare, 18-minute version of the music video for…

This year's Polish Documentary Classics will present a retrospective of one of Poland's most important documentary filmmakers – Maciej Drygas. The first part of the presentation, on Wednesday, will be attended by the director himself, who will also engage in discussion with the audience. The Maciej Drygas film presentations will also include the latest and long-awaited title – "Abu Haraz." The festival's special guest will also be hosting workshops for journalists, organised in collaboration with Radio Szczecin and the Association of Journalists of the Republic of Poland (SDRP) “Pomorze Zachodnie.”

  The Szczecin audience have chosen their West Pomeranian Short 2013! The great majority of votes has gone to the film by Szymon Karpierz, "DRAWTEK 2013." Congratulations!    

  During the Opening Ceremony we will be holding the premiere of Isabella Rossellini's latest film, "Mammas.” The event will be hosted by Tomasz Raczek, and our guests will include Maciej Drygas and Janusz Wróblewski. The event will be broadcast by TVP Szczecin.  

  Another guest of this year's dokumentART is Jacek Bromski - known director, producer, and chairman of the Polish Filmmakers Association. On October 10th-13th, Kino Zamek will be holding a review of our guest's work, co-organised by the Pomerania Film Westpomeranian Film Fund. Eight films will be screened from Thursday till Sunday, including the multi-award-winning "Zabij mnie, glino" with Bogusław Linda and Piotr Machalica. What is more, an interesting event of the 22nd dokumentART - combined with a visit from Jacek Bromski himself - will be the screening of his latest film, "Bilet na księżyc." The screening will be held on October 16th…

  Poland's most recognisable film critic, co-author of the cult series "Perły z lamusa," notorious for fighting "the cancer that is ruining the fabric of Polish cinema life" – Tomasz Raczek. During the 22nd dokumentART, he will host his original block THE LIMITS OF CINEMA (17.10.2013), as well as THE OPENING CEREMONY (15.102013).

This year's edition of dokumentART is first and foremost a celebration of film thrills. It is therefore natural that most of the festival program is taken up by over 140 hours of screenings and discussions. However, cinema experiences stem not only from picture, but music as well. That is why this year we have decided to emphasize music even more than in previous years. With the Imperium club we invite not only film enthusiasts to see the performances of several unique acts: Lipali (16.10) - one of the most popular bands of the last several years, Tomasz Lipcnicki's original project.…

The deadline for the final selection screenings of West Pomerania Shorts is September 9th. The screenings will take place on September 10th at 18:00, as part of the OFFilm project. From among the films presented, the audience will choose the three best productions, which will be screened at the grand finale held during this year's EFFD dokumentART.   The 22nd EFFD dokumentART programme committee received about four hundred applications for the European Competition, a core element of the festival. Submissions have arrived from fifty countries, including non-European ones. 48 titles from twenty one countries have been selected, including eighteen from Europe (some movies were co-produced beyond the Old Continent). This year the committee is: Birgit Acar, Jörg Foth, Caroline Walke (German Director of the Festival), Bartosz Wójcik (Polish Director fo the Festival), and Joanna Wójcik.   dokumentART is a European Film Festival for Documentaries, with a tradition that spans over 20 years. Within the last seven years its form has changed into international. The festival has two directors (one from Poland and one from Germany). Competition films are selected by a Polish-German committee. The organisers are OFFicyna (Poland) and  Latücht Film & Medien (Germany). dokumentART takes place every autumn simultaneously in Poland and Germany. Every year the festival grants around ten awards. Last year's quota amounted to about 10.000 euros. Each year the festival offers: about 50 programme blocks over 180 films over 140 screening…
